What are vouchforthis widgets and how do I create them?

Our next tip for getting the most out of your vouchforthis membership is to help you understand what widgets are and how you can use them.

In a nutshell

Widgets are the “unit of deployment” for your testimonials. You can have as many widgets as you like, each containing just the testimonials you choose, and each having a colour scheme and display width chosen by you to match the web page(s) that the widget will be added to.

Each testimonial that you add to your vouchforthis account can be included in one or more widgets.

Do I need more than one widget?

No, but if you want to display different sets of testimonials on different web pages, for example to display testimonials relating to different aspects of your business on different pages, or if you want the style of your testimonials, for example background colour, text colour and width across the page to be different depending on where you deploy them, then you will need multiple widgets.

But don’t worry – there is no cost for multiple widgets!

How do I create a widget?

Creating a widget is straightforward, but may look a little daunting the first time you do it.

Just log in to your vouchforthis account here… http://www.vouchforthis.com/login/

Follow the navigation link at the top of the page to  My Widgets / Add a Widget.

Choose whether your widget should contain all of your testimonials, just testimonials for one of your companies or products, or a specific list of testimonials.

Use the colour selectors to choose the background colour, text colour and border colour for your widget.

Preview your widget, and repeat the process until you are happy with it.

Press the ‘Save Widget’ button.

How do I deploy my widget?

Ok. So you now have some testimonials, and a widget to contain them, but how do you deploy it on your website?

Looking at your My Widgets page you will see a list of all your widgets.

Look for the yellow, highlighted code.

Paste the highlighted code into your website at the point you want your testimonials to appear, replacing the xxxxx with the id of the widget you want to display.

Save your web page and the job’s done!

Now, whenever you add more testimonials to your vouchforthis account they will automatically appear in your web page.
