About Vouchforthis

Yes. We operate a very generous referral scheme where you will earn £5 for every paying member that you introduce. When you register on the site we will allocate you a unique referrer code that you can subsequently use to invite your friends and contacts. When they register and pay their subscription we will credit your vouchforthis account with £5. Once your account balance reaches £25 you can ask us to pay you the outstanding amount. We ask the person who gave the testimonial to confirm that they are happy to approve it. We automatically reject any testimonial that is uploaded where the domain name of the person uploading it is the same as the domain name of the person giving the testimonial. We also conduct random checks from time to time to reduce the likelihood of the same person being the giver and receiver, and remove users from the system who are found to be abusing it.

A vouchforthis membership is absolutely FREE! You can register, add testimonials, create widgets and deploy them on your own web pages at absolutely no cost. We do add a little advertising to the foot of each widget. To remove this we offer a Premium Membership service costing just £9.99+vat per year. Vouchforthis is a website where you can upload testimonials that people have given you. We then ask those people to verify the testimonial, and then you can display it on your (and other) websites with a ‘Vouched For’ badge. This gives confidence to your website visitors which should in turn help you to find more customers.


Registering My Details

When registering your details with vouchforthis we not only check the format of your email address to make sure that it looks like a valid email address but we attempt to ping your mail server to ensure the address exists. Occasionally, members have a temporary problem with their email server that prevents us from checking. In these cases we will reject your application, and you should try again once your email server is functioning again.

Just an email address so we can contact you when we have something important to tell you (and this is also your login id), a password of your choice, and your name.

Easy!. You just need to click the Register link at the top of the page and follow the instructions. It should take you no more than 2 minutes to register..


General Testimonial Questions

Vouchforthis members can add text and graphic links to their web pages that will allow their visitors to leave a testimonial for them. The testimonials will automatically appear as verified once approved by the member and is a great way of passively building your testimonial portfolio.

It's an honour to be asked to write a testimonial for someone you have worked with, and important that you get it right, emphasising what work was done for you, the quality of the work, and anything else that can help. We have published some guidelines for writing great testimonials.

My Testimonials

Delete a testimonial by logging in to your account, go to My Testimonials, then select “Delete” next to the testimonial you want to remove. Testimonials deleted this way will be permanently removed, and no confirmation option will be offered. If you want to leave your testimonial on the system but just remove it from any widgets, you should select “De-Activate” instead.

Once you have created one (or more) testimonial widgets, you can place the widgets on any of your web pages (and anywhere else where you can include javascript code snippets – e.g. blogs, community websites etc). The widget will then auto-generate a testimonials list whenever anyone visits that page.

No. Not the actual content, because once you have added it we ask the giver to verify it. Most people would just copy and paste an existing testimonial (either from a customer email, or from an existing web page) and so we do not think this is a big problem. If there is a spelling or grammatical error, then please let us know and we will change it for you. If it is a more significant change, you should de-activate the testimonial and create a new one with the correct details.

Once you have added your testimonial, we will send an email to the person who gave it to you asking them to verify that they did in fact supply it. They just need to click a simple link in the email to accept the testimonial. Once they do this your testimonial will show as Approved on your My Testimonials page, and the testimonial will automatically display with a ‘verified’ logo in your website widgets.

You need to be a registered member to add your testimonials. If you are not already a member just follow the Register link at the top of this page. If you are a member, then you need to log in with your email address and password. You will automatically be directed to your My Testimonials Page from where you can click the New Testimonial link. Once at the new testimonial page you just follow the instructions and add your testimonial.

When you add a new testimonial it appears as status “Awaiting” until the testimonial giver either Accepts or Rejects the testimonial. It then moves to Approved or Rejected when the testimonial giver responds. If you have not had a response from your testimonial giver you can Nudge Giver, which sends them a gentle reminder that they have not yet responded. You can Activate or De-activate your testimonials. Only active testimonials will appear in your website widgets. If you have added a Giver URL to your testimonial it will show as Hyperlink followed by the link you have chosen. Otherwise it will show as No Hyperlink. If your testimonial giver has offered to provide a reference for you this will show as Reference Offered. Otherwise, it will show as Reference Not Offered.

It can literally happen within a few minutes. You need to register as a vouchforthis.com client, and then you are free to start adding your testimonials.


Testimonials on my website

Yes. Normally this is straightforward, as you will just need to use your normal page / post editing facility and paste your widget code into your blog.
Some blogging software will restrict the code that you can enter, but there is generally a work-around of some sort. If you are having trouble with this, please get in touch with us as we may be able to help.

Yes, but only if you are able to change the HTML content for the website, or if you have access to the Content Management System (CMS).
Some community websites such as Business-Scene allow their members to add their vouchforthis widget id to their profile page so that their testimonials can be displayed on that site.

Yes. You need to follow the instructions for displaying testimonials on your website and repeat for each page that you want to include your testimonials on.
If you want to display a different set of testimonials on different pages you will need to create an additional website widget (see How do I create a website widget?).

Yes, the system is quite flexible.
When you create your widget(s) you can choose whether the widget includes ALL of your testimonials, just those testimonials for a specific company / product, or specific testimonials chosen by you.

After you have added one or more testimonials to your vouchforthis account you will be able to create one or more website widgets. You can do this by going to “My Widgets” and then selecting “New Widget”.
Once you have added a widget you can place it into your website. On the “My Widgets” page you will see a few lines of javascript code inside a dotted box. You will need to copy this and then, using your normal website editor software (e.g. Dreamweaver, Frontpage, your CMS [Content Management System], or a normal text editor) paste it into the required web page at the place where you would like your testimonials to be displayed. You then need to change the “xxxxx” to your own widget id (which is displayed on the “My Widgets” page to the left of your widget details). then save your page, upload it to your web server (if required) and your testimonials should be displayed.
